On the record

Before they were names,
they were in his studio.

01 Ryan
Seacrest
Intern → American Idol · Wheel of Fortune · Keeping Up with the Kardashians

Seacrest came to Rusty as an intern. Rusty taught him personality radio — how to hold an audience not just through content but through presence. Seacrest went on to host American Idol, take over Wheel of Fortune, and executive produce Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The work started here.

02 Ben
Shapiro
Age 14 — Off-air assistant & writer · Rusty wrote the preface to his first book

Ben Shapiro started working with Rusty at fourteen years old — off-air, learning the craft. He was an assistant and a writer. When Shapiro published his first book, Brainwashed (2004), Rusty wrote the preface. That's a first printing credit, not a footnote.

03 Rush
Limbaugh
Staff Writer — from local personality to the most listened-to radio host in history

Rusty was a writer for Rush Limbaugh. This was before the name was a cultural institution — when Rush was still establishing what national talk radio could be. Rusty's writing was part of how that show found its voice and scaled to the biggest audience in the medium's history.

04 Andrew
Breitbart
First radio appearance — Breitbart went on to reshape American media

The very first radio show Andrew Breitbart was ever on was Rusty's. The man who would go on to build Breitbart News and fundamentally alter the structure of American conservative media — his first broadcast introduction happened through this studio. That's not a statistic. That's a fact.

Three Visits.
On the Ground.

Not a desk report. Not a secondhand account. Rusty visited Guantanamo Bay three times as a working journalist — one of a very short list of media figures with that access and that record.

Live Interview.
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade.

With journalist Aaron Klein, Rusty conducted a live interview with the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade. Guns at his back. The interview is documented in the published book Schmoozing With Terrorists — a primary source, not an editorial reference.

Airport Security.
Investigative Report.

An investigative piece exposing massive security failures at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. Led to an arrest. Picked up by major newspapers. The record is in legal documents — not a press release, a court record.

Weekly Column.
Rusty Humphries Rebellion.

Washington Times columnist with a weekly column and companion podcast. Print and audio, running concurrently, under his byline.

On the Record.
Documented.

C-SPAN appearances documented on the public record — the archive that doesn't editorialize, doesn't contextualize, just records.

Killed in Action
Rusty was three years old.

Veterans' issues are not a cause for him. They are personal. They have been personal his entire life.

He didn't arrive at this work through policy or persuasion. He arrived at it the morning he was old enough to understand what the word "killed" meant — and has never stopped thinking about it since.

This is why Coach Jeff exists.

If you want surface-level,
I'm not your guy.

"Rusty doesn't teach you how to talk. He teaches you how to be heard."
